Why most products ask for an SSN

An SSN is the fastest way for a bureau to find your file, so most lenders require it. But bureaus can also match people by legal name, date of birth and address. That is how Fynory reports without one.

What changes without an SSN

Only the timing. Matching by name, birth date and address takes an extra cycle, so your first report shows up in 60–90 days instead of 30. After that, it updates monthly like any other account.

What you get

An open account in your name with a credit limit and a monthly on-time payment history at one, two or all three bureaus depending on your plan.

What happens, and when

  1. Day 0

    You join

Name, date of birth, U.S. address and a card. No SSN, no ITIN, no credit check.

  2. Day 1–30

    First payment

Your first monthly payment is recorded. On time is the only thing that matters here.

  3. Monthly

    We report

We send your account and payment to the bureaus in your plan every month.

  4. Day 60–90

    FYNORY appears

Your account shows up on your credit report. From then on it updates monthly.

Can I really build credit without an SSN or ITIN?

Yes. U.S. credit bureaus can create and match a file using your legal name, date of birth and address. Fynory reports your account and monthly payments with those details, so you don’t need an SSN or ITIN to start.

When will I see Fynory on my credit report?

Within 60–90 days of your first payment. Matching a file without an SSN or ITIN takes an extra cycle, which is why we don’t promise 30 days. After the first appearance, FYNORY updates every month.

What name will appear on my credit report?

The account appears under the creditor name FYNORY.

Is there a credit check?

No. Joining Fynory does not involve a hard inquiry and does not affect your score.

Which bureaus do you report to?

It depends on your plan. Starter reports to Equifax. Plus reports to Equifax and TransUnion. Premium reports to Equifax, TransUnion and Experian.

Your credit clock starts the day you join.

Every month you wait is a month of history you don’t have. Join in about five minutes.
